Southern Bear Catering specializes in Southern and Lowcountry cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. Our menu features authentic Lowcountry staples like Shrimp N Grits, Lowcountry Boil, Charleston Crab Cakes, Charleston She Crab Soup, and Oyster Roasts alongside classic Southern comfort foods like BBQ, fried chicken, mac n cheese, collard greens, and homemade biscuits.

Our menu is organized into several categories:

  • Passed Hors D’Oeuvres — Land, Sea, and Vegetarian selections (2 selections $14/pp; 3 selections $18/pp; 4 selections $22/pp; premium items +$4/pp)
  • Grazing Displays — including Ultimate Grazing Table ($24/pp), Southern Antipasto ($22/pp), Seafood Grazing Station (market price), Lowcountry Dip Bar ($13/pp), and more
  • Buffet Packages — four tiers named after Charleston streets ($35–$65/person)
  • Protein Stations — Land (beef tenderloin, BBQ, chicken, ham, pork loin) and Sea (salmon, shrimp, mahi, oyster roast, Lowcountry boil)

Our Award Winning Shrimp N Grits is the signature dish — fresh local shrimp served over creamy cheesy grits with “Geechee girl” Charleston-style gravy, lemon butter sauce, bacon crumbles, and green onion at $22/person. It has won multiple awards and is consistently a crowd favorite at weddings and corporate events.

Pricing depends on the service style and menu selections:

  • Passed hors d’oeuvres: from $14/person (2 selections)
  • Grazing displays: from $13/person to $24/person (or market price for seafood)
  • Buffet packages: $35–$65/person
  • Entrée stations: $18–$28/person
  • Bar service: $9–$20/person (minimum 3 hours)

Yes. Southern Bear offers vegetarian, seafood, and meat-based options across all service styles. If you have guests with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies), please discuss this with Trish during your consultation at (803) 795-3558. We will do our best to accommodate your guests’ needs.

Yes. All hors d’oeuvres and tray options are available for single tray pickup or delivery. All options are also available for station-style, buffet, or plated service on-site. Call Trish at (803) 795-3558to arrange pickup or delivery for your order.

Absolutely. Oyster roasts are a Southern Bear specialty — local single or cluster oysters steamed on-site, served with horseradish, cocktail sauce, saltines, hot sauce, and mignonette. Service includes shuckers, shell removal, buckets, towels, and tables. Lowcountry Boil includes local shrimp, kielbasa, corn, and red potatoes; snow crab, clams, and king crab can be added at market price.
